Precision, Performance, and Progress: The History of Toro Mowers

Founded in 1914 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Toro Company began as a manufacturer of tractor engines for The Bull Tractor Company. By the 1920s, Toro shifted its focus to turf maintenance equipment, developing some of the earliest mechanized fairway mowers for golf courses.

In 1948, Toro introduced its first consumer walk-behind rotary lawn mower, marking its entry into the residential lawn care market. Over the decades, Toro expanded its lineup to include zero-turn mowers, riding mowers, and battery-powered equipment, consistently emphasizing innovation, durability, and professional-grade performance.

Today, Toro is a global leader in turf and landscape maintenance, irrigation, and outdoor equipment, serving homeowners, professional landscapers, golf courses, municipalities, and sports facilities in more than 125 countries.
